English Vehicle Insurance To Thailand

Types of Insurance recommended for bringing a vehicle to Thailand. There are four types of insurance:

1. The first insurance is  Compulsory Insurance or C.i. : This insurance must be purchased. However, it only covers medical fees and accident compensation. It does not cover damage to the owner's vehicle and third-party vehicles in the event of an accident.

2. The second insurance is Voluntary Insurance or V.i. : This insurance covers the cost of third-party vehicle damage if we are at fault in an accident. However, the owner's vehicle is financed at a minimal cost.

3. The third insurance is Travel Insurance or T.i. : This insurance provides protection for medical treatment in Thai hospitals, where medical costs in Thailand are very high.

4. A fourth insurance that is recommended but not mandatory to purchase is Extension Insurance 101 or E101. This insurance can be purchased in Malaysia. For example, if our vehicle uses insurance from company A, you can refer to your vehicle insurance sales representative in Malaysia. This insurance is pay and claim. It can finance compensation for owner vehicles and third-party vehicles.

Only the first insurance must be purchased. The second, third, and fourth insurances are recommended to be purchased because they ease the burden of paying compensation to third parties and also help finance the very high cost of hospital treatment in Thailand. The decision is up to you, but from experience, those who do not buy the second, third, and fourth insurance usually have to worry about the mortgage to pay compensation if there is an accident in Thailand.
